Long Lunch Quick Reads – 10 delicious literary luncheons at Loft 112 in East Village!
November 6, 12pm-4pm
Hot off the press!
Noir on Eighth – An original, epic new serial novel in the grand tradition of a “Penny Dreadful” - in ten delightful chapters, written by ten of Calgary’s brilliant writers, and featuring some of our city’s quirkiest historical characters and events.
Find yourself in a quiet environment free of e-distraction to read and be part of a new literary experiment between local Calgary writers and readers. Come receive chapter one with lunch, cake and balloons on our birthday weekend. Then, over the course of ten Fridays (May 8, May 22, June 11, July 3, July 24, August 14, September 4, September 25, October 16, November 6) Loft 112 will be the place to pick up the new installment of the serial historical novel set in Calgary and written by Calgary writers.
Feel free to bring your own lunch or boxed lunches are available for pre-order which include a Sunterra sandwich, snack and choice of non-alcoholic beverage for $12.
Attendance is free, but please reserve your spot and purchase your optional pre-ordered lunch through Brown Paper Tickets.
Bridge For Beginners - CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS

Played by suburban couples, ladies who lunch, your grandparents, and the young and hip whiling away fireside time at cabins, the game of Bridge is an intellectually challenging and enjoyable card game that only requires you to have a deck of cards, three friends to play with, a pencil and a pad to keep score, and a sharp mind.
Intended for the complete beginner, one who knows nothing, or almost nothing, about bridge.

Or try your hand at fiction or poetry. This session is open ended and free. Come as often or as little as you like. Bring, pen, paper or anything you like to write with. Coffee, tea (and paper provided.)

Meet Faye Lippitt, mother of two sets of twins and two singles in eight years. Her stories of parenting this crowd are the subject of her book.
